Chair Gerald Panio
I have been a Commissioner since 2015, looking to do more community volunteering after my retirement from teaching at Crawford Bay Elementary-Secondary School. I’ve been Chair of the Commission since 2016. I’ve also been a member of the Kootenay Lake Lions since the early 1980s, and on the Board of Directors for the Bluebell Manor Society since its founding in 1985. Other local societies I’ve worked with include the Riondel Seniors Association and the East Shore Ambulance Society. As a Commissioner, a major focus for me over recent years has been the revival of the Community Centre—both in terms of maintaining & improving the condition of the building itself, and encouraging individuals & organisations to use the Centre to maximize its value as a resource for Riondel residents and for others in our East Shore community.
