Next Week: Join us in the World’s Largest Earthquake Drill!

Less than one week until British Columbians “Drop, Cover and Hold On” during the ShakeOutBC earthquake drill Oct. 19th at 10:19 a.m.

Make sure your participation is counted by registering your family, organization or business at www.shakeoutbc.ca/register.

Given the extraordinary fire and flooding seasons British Columbia saw this year, ShakeOutBC day is a great time to encourage your staff, local organizations and community members to practice what to do in an earthquake, to update their emergency plans and to check their emergency kits.

Some easy ways to get involved with ShakeOutBC this year:

Share your event: If you’re hosting a ShakeOutBC event in your community, visit the ShakeOutBC website and add your event to the list to inform or invite others in your community.

Play the ShakeOutBC Audio Clip: ShakeOutBC’s website has a ShakeOut drill audio clip available for download at any time.

In addition, visit ShakeOutBC’s website for a list of participating radio stations that have signed up to play the drill clip on or near 10:19 on October 19th.

Socialize your #ShakeOutBC: Participating in Drop, Cover and Hold On at work, school or home? SnapTweetFacebook or Instagram about it to share with your friends and followers! Be sure to use the hashtag #ShakeOutBC and tag @ShakeOutBC in your posts.

Check in with us on social media on Oct 19th to see what we’re up to by following on FacebookTwitter and Instagram, using the hashtag #ShakeOutBC.

Snap a pic with Snapchat and add the Great British Columbia ShakeOut Geofilter!

This year ShakeOutBC will have a Snapchat Geofilter in the following locations (…and we’re still adding more!): Victoria, University of Victoria, Vancouver, Science World, Simon Fraser University, Surrey, Kamloops, Terrace, Ahousaht and Tofino.

Be sure to snap between 10:00 and 11:00am on Oct 19th to catch the filter!
